फिर उसने सामने कुछ सूखी हड्डियाँ ☠ पड़ी देखीं..वो आते हुए शेर की तरफ पीठ कर के बैठ गया..और एक सूखी हड्डी को चूसने लगा और जोर-जोर से बोलने लगा..”वाह ! शेरको खाने का मज़ा ही कुछ और है..एक और मिल जाए तो पूरी दावत हो जायेगी !” और उसने जोर से डकार मारी..
इस बार शेर सोच में पड़ गया..उसने सोचा-“ये कुत्ता तो शेरका शिकार करता है ! जान बचा कर भागने में ही भलाई है !” और शेर वहाँ से जान बचा कर भाग गया..पेड़ पर बैठा एक बन्दर 🐒 यह सब तमाशा देख रहा था..उसने सोचा यह अच्छा मौका है,शेरको सारी कहानी बता देता हूँ ..शेरसे दोस्ती भी हो जायेगी और उससे ज़िन्दगी भर के लिए जान का खतरा भी दूर हो जायेगा..वो फटाफट शेर के पीछे भागा..कुत्तेने बन्दर को जाते हुए देख लिया और समझ गया कि कोई लोचा है..
उधर बन्दरने शेरको सारी कहानी बता दी कि कैसे कुत्तेने उसे बेवकूफ बनाया है..
शेर जोर से दहाड़ा – “चल मेरे साथ,अभी उसकी लीला ख़तम करता हूँ”। और बन्दरको अपनी पीठ पर बैठा कर शेर कुत्ते की तरफ चल दिया..

कुत्तेने शेरको आते देखा तो एक बार फिर उसके आगे जान का संकट आ गया मगर फिर हिम्मत कर कुत्ता उसकी तरफ पीठ करके बैठ गया l

और जोर-जोर से बोलने लगा..”इस बन्दरको भेजे एक घंटा हो गया..साला एक शेर को फंसा कर नहीं ला सकता !”
यह सुनते ही शेरने बंदरको वहीं पटका और वापस पीछे भाग गया ।
