বার্ষিকীতে,
রাতে স্ত্রী ঘুম
থেকে জেগে উঠে
দেখেন
পাশে স্বামী নেই।
তাকে পাওয়া গেল
ডাইনিং টেবিলে
এক কাপ
কফি নিয়ে
ক্যালেন্ডারের
দিকে স্থির
তাকিয়ে আছেন।
কফিতে একবার
চুমুক
দিচ্ছেন আর
চোখের জল
মুচ্ছেন।
স্ত্রী কাছে গিয়ে
জিজ্ঞেস
করলেন,
“কী হয়েছে
তোমার?”
ক্যালেন্ডার
থেকে চোখ
ফিরিয়ে স্ত্রীর
দিকে তাকিয়ে,
স্বামী বললেন,
“আজ
থেকে ২০ বছর
আগের সেই
দিনের
কথা তোমার মনে
আছে?”
স্ত্রী বললেন,
“হ্যাঁ।”
স্বামী বললেন,
“সেদিন তোমার
বাবা বলেছিলেন,
হয় আমার
মেয়েকে বিয়ে
করবে, নয়তো ২০
বছরের জন্য জেল
খাটতে হবে মনে
আছে?”
স্ত্রী বললেন,
“হ্যাঁ, তাও মনে
আছে।”
স্বামী চোখ মুছে
বললেন, “সেদিন
যদি তোমাকে
বিয়ে না করে
জেলে যেতাম,
তাহলে আজ
মুক্তি পেতাম।”
