বেণীমাধব বেণীমাধব তোমার বাড়ি যাবো
তোমার বউয়ের সঙ্গে বসে বাদাম ভাজা খাবো।
প্রথম যেদিন গিয়েছিলাম আমি তোমার ঘরে
সেই দিনটা বেণীমাধব এখনও মনে পড়ে।
ভিতর থেকে বেরিয়ে এলো তোমার মিষ্টি বউ
ঘণ্টা বাজলো আমার বুকে শুনল না তো কেউ !
বেণীমাধব তোমার বউয়ের পিঠ ছাপানো চুল
আমার মনে কুটুস করে বিঁধিয়ে দিলো হুল !
তুমি যখন বেণীমাধব দাঁড়াও বউয়ের পাশে
বুক ফেটে যায় ঈর্ষাতে আর দু’চোখ জলে ভাসে।
জুড়ায় নাকো মোটেই, শুধুই পুড়ায় আমার চোখ
তোমার বউয়ের প্রেমে আমি চরিত্রহীন লোক।
কিসের এত ন্যায় অন্যায় কিসের এত আইন ?
তোমার বউই বেণীমাধব আমার ভ্যালেন্টাইন।
চুপি চুপি বেণীমাধব কয়েকটা দিন পরে
তোমার বউয়ের সঙ্গে দেখা করবো ব্রিজের ধারে।
জ্বলবে আগুন বেণীমাধব দুইজনারই বুকে
তোমার বউকে ফুঁসলে নিয়ে ভাগবো দূর মুলুকে।
বুঝবে তখন বেণীমাধব কি ভয়ানক জ্বালা
পেয়েছিল সেই মালতী স্কুলের নবম শ্রেণীর বালা!
অনিদ্রা আর বদহজমে শরীর যাবে ক্ষয়ে
বদলা নেবো বেণীমাধব সেলাই বোনের হয়ে!
নিবিই যদি ঠিক করেছিস এমন প্রতিশোধ
সংগোপনে সুদীর্ঘকাল লুকিয়ে রাখিস ক্রোধ।
যা করবার কর না বন্ধু একটু তাড়াতাড়ি
আমিও তবে মুক্ত হাওয়ায় নিঃশ্বাস নিতে পারি।
মধুঝরা হাসি, বক্র চাহনি একঢাল কালো চুলে
তোমার মতই আমিও একদা গিয়েছি ভূবন ভুলে।
ঘোর কেটে গেলে হিসাব পেলাম কত ধানে কত চাল
সাধে কি আমার হয়েছে এমন পাগলের মতো হাল!
তোর কথা শুনে ফের মনে হল এখনও আছি রে বেঁচে
পুলকে আমার হৃদয়কমল কেমন উঠেছে নেচে।
বন্ধু তোমায় একটি বাক্য চুপিচুপি দিই কহে
একবার নিলে ও জিনিস আর ফেরৎযোগ্য নহে।
